Latest NFL trade rumors imply Christian McCaffrey could be on the move from the Carolina Panthers

The NFL trade rumors are swirling that the Carolina Panthers are listening to trade offers for All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey, according to ESPN reporter David Newton.

McCaffrey is just two seasons removed from recording 1,000 or more rushing yards and 1,000 or more receiving yards in a single season. When healthy, he’s one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the NFL.

The former Stanford Cardinal could be competing for a new team in his age 26 season if the Panthers are able to secure a first-round pick and a player with a significantly lower salary than McCaffrey’s average of $16 million per season, according to Newton.

Some teams will be apprehensive of the fact Christian McCaffrey has played in just 10 games from the past two seasons combined. Others will be seriously contemplating making a move for the dynamic athlete.

Let’s take a look at five teams who could and should be making a trade offer for McCaffrey.

Christian McCaffrey landing spot no 5. Denver Broncos

The Broncos just landed Russell Wilson in a blockbuster trade and if they miss on re-signing Melvin Gordon III, Denver should strongly consider making a move to trade for the supremely talented running back to retool their offense.

Clearly, Denver is going all-in on competing for a Super Bowl right now. They’ve spent a ton of assets to bring in Wilson, but if they can part with one more future first they’ll have an outstanding backfield for years to come.
