Chicago Bears 2022 Free Agency: 5 Wide receiver targets
With a desperate need at wide receiver, the Chicago Bears will hit free agency to look for answers. Here are some possible targets.
As we all know by now, the Chicago Bears have a desperate need at the wide receiver spot. The only receiver of note under contract is Darnell Mooney (Dazz Newsome as well but he has a lot to prove yet). As a result, Chicago will need to go through multiple areas for help.
While the Bears will look to the draft to pick up a receiver (or two), they’ll also need to go through free agency as well.
General manager Ryan Poles will have his work cut out for him. Over 60 percent of the roster will become free agents. That means he has a lot of holes to fill. Yes, the Bears are in pretty good salary cap shape, but he also has a lot of spots to fill. With that many open spaces, the money gets used up in a hurry.
Because of that, Poles will be frugal with the available money. He already said that he prefers finding players in the second or third wave of free agency. The first wave is where many teams end up overspending. After things calm down after the initial frenzy, teams can find a lot of bargains.
Come March 16th and beyond, Poles puts his words into action. We’ll see what he does. We have no idea of what he prefers. We have somewhat of an idea of how the Kansas City Chiefs did, but he was a cog on the wheel. In Chicago, while there is also a committee, he is the one in charge and makes the final decisions. Let’s see how he does when the final decisions rest on him.
For now, here are some free-agent wide receivers the Chicago Bears could target.
