AFC Contenders calling for Bobby Wagner?

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens currently have around $16 million in available cap space, and after a very disappointing 2021 season, I think we can expect to see them a little more aggressive in the 2022 offseason.

They have plenty of areas to address, including the defensive front seven.

A player like Bobby Wagner paired up with Patrick Queen would give the Baltimore Ravens a duo at the linebacker position that could rival any in the league.

Los Angeles Chargers

After acquiring pass rusher Khalil Mack in a trade, the salary cap rich Los Angeles Chargers are only getting started.

Brandon Staley’s defense was embarrassed in the season finale against the Las Vegas Raiders, and you can expect this team to be aggressive in pursuing upgrades on that side of the ball.

Not that the Chargers are going to just throw money at every free agent, but Bobby Wagner would make a lot of sense for them right now.

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos just traded for Russell Wilson and they have cap space. They also have a void at the inside linebacker position.

Still, it feels like the Broncos might be a slight longshot here. Depending on what this team’s plans are off the edge and at right tackle in free agency, we could see general manager George Paton make an aggressive push to get Wagner from the Seahawks.

The middle of the Denver defense last year sorely lacked a veteran presence. It just so happens that Paton’s top veteran players — Alexander Johnson, Josey Jewell, and Kenny Young — are all free agents.

Wagner could be a fit here if the Broncos want to allocate funds to that position.
