Amari Cooper Landing Spot No. 2: Cleveland Browns
It’s hard to find a team with a worse collection of wide receivers than the Cleveland Browns. It’s a huge fall from grace because they went into 2019 with Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham, Jr. but never truly took off with OBJ.
Following some frustrating seasons and a torn ACL, Beckham forced his way out of town and landed with the Los Angeles Rams. Landry is likely on the way out as well as he had an epic Twitter rant where he all but said he’s not returning — and it might not be his decision.
As for Amari Cooper, it’s already being reported that the Browns would be all-in on adding him to their roster. If that’s true, it would make a lot of sense.
Not only does Cleveland need a No. 1 wide receiver, but they need someone with the ability to get deep and stretch the defense, which would help out their running game. Cooper can do both. He’s also an insanely precise route runner and in Kevin Stefanski’s offense where the quarterback throws to a spot and expects his guy to be there, Cooper will definitely be there.
The Browns are committed to Baker Mayfield in 2022 as he enters the final year of his rookie deal. As they look to see if he can be the guy, adding Cooper would go a long way toward helping them figure out if that’s the case.
