Three bold predictions for the Green Bay Packers in the offseason, headed into their biggest summer in the Aaron Rodgers era.

Now officially official, Aaron Rodgers is returning to the Green Bay Packers, though the details of his four-year $200 million contract extension are held to a dispute over the exact numbers. The team will yet again have a legitimate chance to make a Super Bowl run in 2022.

While this is a victory in itself for the franchise and the fanbase as they retain their back-to-back MVP quarterback indefinitely, this is only the start of a monumental summer the Packers have in front of them.

Entering the offseason well over the 2022 NFL salary cap, about $52 million if we’re counting, Green Bay has already split their difference in half by restructuring the contracts of Kenny Clark, Aaron Jones, and David Bakhtiari.

Until the official details of Rodgers’ contract are revealed, there’s no telling what the salary cap hit looks like after his extension. We can say with certainty though, that his cap hit next season will be remarkably lower as it was slated to come in at around $46 million.

Extending AR12 also meant that superstar wideout Davante Adams had a reason to stay in town, and while the team designated the franchise tag unto him with a cap value of $20 million, they buy themselves some time to extend him long-term which in doing so will alleviate that monster toll in their spending for next year even more.

If/when the Green Bay Packers are able to extend Adams and reconfigure more contracts, we’re bound to see unfortunate salary cap casualties that will take their toll on the roster. With all of this being said, let’s take a look at three bold moves general manager Brian Gutekunst can make this offseason.
