Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson has cleared a major legal hurdle and could be quickly traded to a new team

Love him or hate him, superstar quarterback Deshaun Watson appears to be headed to a new team this offseason. After clearing serious legal hurdles, NFL rumors are swirling the star quarterback could be traded in a matter of days.

On March 11, Watson and the rest of the world learned the star QB will not face criminal charges stemming from multiple allegations of sexual assault and sexual misconduct that came to light in early 2021.

Those allegations and lawsuits, coupled with a trade demand, kept Watson on the sidelines last season. Deshaun Watson has not competed in an NFL game since the Texans lost to the Tennessee Titans on January 3, 2021— the final game of the 2020 season.

The three-time Pro Bowl player, who was once compared to the legendary basketball player Michael Jordan by his college coach, is indeed supremely talented.

In the first four seasons of his career (54 games), Watson has recorded 14,539 passing yards, 104 touchdown passes, and 36 interceptions. He’s also added 1,677 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns to his resume.

Watson trails only Dan Marino (142), Patrick Mahomes (114), Peyton Manning (111), and Russell Wilson (106) for most touchdown passes thrown in the first four seasons of their NFL career (104), according to Stat Muse.

Now that Watson appears to have cleared some serious legal hurdles, it’s widely been reported that teams are going to be lining up to make a trade offer to the Houston Texans.

While NFL insider Mike Florio reports the Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks are the favorites to land the star quarterback, we’re taking a look at three darkhorse teams that could surprise everyone and swoop in to win the Deshaun Watson trade sweepstakes that are currently underway.
