Predicting where the 6 NFL free agents sign in free agency
By Andrew Falce
With NFL free agency about to get underway, here is a prediction of the top six deals that could be had early in the process.
NFL free agency signifies the next phase of the offseason, as teams pay top dollar in hopes of landing some new talent. While free agency will be a talking point for the next few weeks as big deals continue to fall, the first 48 hours or so are jam-packed with mega-deals. While there will be a slew of huge contracts handed out, here is my best guess of the six biggest to happen early in free agency this offseason.
Miller joins the Jaguars in free agency
Contract projection: 2-years, $28 million
No one arguable earned themselves more money this past post-season than Von Miller. While still a top pass rusher, there were signs of decline in the veteran even before the Rams traded for him. While he was still consistent before the playoffs, his overall ability to get after the quarterback had seemingly taken a step back.
Then the playoffs hit, and Miller was playing like his old self again. He was the second-best defender on a talented Los Angeles defense and as a result, has boosted his free agency value once again. There should be quite a few teams interested in his services, but I believe the Jaguars make a sensible home for the veteran.
While it was yet another disappointing season for Jacksonville, they will likely allocate a lot of resources in building an impressive team around Trevor Lawrence. While it seems like a right tackle will be added in the draft, adding a capable pass rusher across from Josh Allen makes sense. Miller provides veteran leadership and experience for a defense that will look to take some serious steps forward in 2022. Miller goes to a nice area for good money with the hope of being a part of another good team in 2022.
