Predicting where the 6 NFL free agents sign in free agency
By Andrew Falce
Jackson joins the Eagles in free agency
Contract projection: 4-year, $84 million
The first domino falling was already discussed in Davis joining the Jets. Now the second one falls, as J.C. Jackson gets a record-breaking deal to leave the Patriots. It seems like almost a certainty that if Jackson hits free agency he will get a mega-deal, and the Eagles are a logical spot given their cap space and need at the position.
Jackson has quickly become one of the top cornerbacks in the league in recent years. While his coverage skills are excellent and some of the best numbers in the game, his ability to pick off passes really sets him apart. He has 17 interceptions over the past two seasons, an obscene number that any team would dream of having. Add in the ability to lock down an opposing receiver and there isn’t much that Jackson is lacking.
While Jalen Ramsey currently holds the deal for the most money per year for a cornerback, it seems logical that Jackson breaks that on the open market. Teams will likely get into a bidding war for his services which should further add to his next deal. The Eagles have proven in the past that they value cornerbacks immensely. They may look to add Jackson if the opportunity presents itself in 2022.
With free agency set to get underway, there should be a flurry of news that breaks about who is going where. These top six names seem like natural fits with these perspective teams. Keep an eye out on where they all ultimately land as the new NFL season gets underway.
