Underrated NFL Free Agent: FS — Marcus Williams

One player that just lines up and handles is business, Williams has made his mishap with “the Minneapolis Miracle” a distant memory. The Saints safety had a strong 2021 campaign, as he posted a career-high 74 tackles to go along with two INTs, and eight passes defended.

Williams had an even bigger impact when you consider the advanced stats. The fifth-year pro yielded the least TDs (3), lowest completion rate (48.8%), and passer rating (85.5) he has in the last four seasons.

Williams is a true centerfielder type on the back end. The Saints would be smart to bring a guy back who contributed to a defense that’s been ranked in the top 10 in each of the past two seasons.

The safety market is unique with players like Tyrann Mathieu and Quandre Diggs hitting free agency. But as he approaches his age-26 season, Williams could be in line to receive the biggest deal of them all.

Potential landing spots: Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers
