Baker Mayfield top trade landing spots with Browns future uncertain
No 1. Baker Mayfield to the Seattle Seahawks?
Seattle is probably one of the best-positioned teams to trade for Baker Mayfield. The team has a treasure trove of assets after the Denver Broncos paid a king’s ransom to take Russell Wilson off their hands.
It’s easy to think Seattle’s 12th Man would get behind Mayfield, who is an ultimate competitor. He exudes a lot of the same qualities and abilities as Wilson.
Mayfield would have the opportunity to start fresh with a team that could still want to compete next season in a very crowded NFC West.
If the Hawks can land Mayfield, grab a couple of free agents, and draft really well, they have a chance to have a solid season in 2022 and forgo a long and lengthy rebuild.
Seattle Head Coach Pete Carroll is a believer in Mayfield. Just roll back the tape when he praised the Browns quarterback prior to the Browns and Seahawks playing each other in 2019.
"He has a big belief in himself, I would think. I do not know him, but I would think that he does,” Carroll said back in 2019 in comments captured by WKYC. That lends itself to the confidence that it takes to hang in there as you learn and to grow and to bounce back from the setbacks that are obviously going to happen as you go along. That is just so difficult. He is an excellent player right now. He is going to be great when the times come."
Baker Mayfield’s future is in question right now but one thing seems clear — starting for the Cleveland Browns in 2022 feels like one of the least likely options.
