4. Chase Edmonds, RB, Grade B

Running back was a position the Miami Dolphins needed to address. Otherwise, this grade would have been lower. Few thought they’d address the need via free agency. Those who did probably didn’t expect it to happen during the “tampering period.” Others thought Duke Johnson played himself into a contract — Chris Grier had other plans.

Chase Edmonds signed a two-year deal with the Fins worth $12.6 million. He’ll join Myles Gaskin as the only two notable running backs on the roster. The former Arizona Cardinal has an injury history, but he averaged over five years per carry last season. He’ll fit in smoothly in a zone-blocking scheme that will best utilize his talents.

The Fins still need a No. 1 back. With Melvin Gordon on the market, perhaps he would have been the better option. Will the Miami Dolphins address the position in the draft? We shall see. For now, this is an average signing for a team desperately looking for a star in the backfield.

3. Cedric Wilson, WR, Grade A-

Last season, the Miami Dolphins expected a lot more from their wide receivers. Jaylen Waddle was amazing, showing that he’s more than just speed. On the other hand, Devante Parker found himself on the injury report again.

Albert Wilson is a free agent, but he and Tua couldn’t get on the same page. Will Fuller was a bust after he signed during last year’s free agency. He went MIA, leaving the Fins without a deep threat. Mack Hollins was the lone bright spot opposite Jaylen Waddle, but he’s also a free agent.

Cedric Wilson comes over from the Cowboys on a three-year $22.8 million deal with $12.75 million guaranteed. Wilson is a dynamic 6-2 200-pound shifty wideout who can make plays after the catch. His length and YAC ability ideally suit Tua’s skill set and compliments Waddle.

If the Fins wanted a DeEbo Samuel-type of wideout, Wilson is that guy. Though, I don’t suspect they’ll need to rely on their wideouts to play running back.
