Green Bay Packers mock draft: Round 1, pick 28

Christian Watson, WR, North Dakota State

Will Brian Gutekunst finally do it? Will he finally use a first-round pick on an offensive skill player for Aaron Rodgers?

It seems crazy, but it just might happen.

In the 2021 NFL Draft, we saw Dave Gettleman trade draft picks, so we know that miracles and impossible things can become reality in the NFL Draft.

Gutekunst has held out on drafting a receiver in the first round for far too long, and the streak has to end.

Yes, the Green Bay Packers need to add a veteran receiver. Perhaps they could try and trade for someone like Robert Woods of the Rams now that Allen Robinson has joined the reigning Super Bowl champions.

If not Woods, there will be plenty of other options for the Packers to look at in the veteran receiver market.

But the NFL Draft cannot be forsaken.

One player that is often linked to the Packers is North Dakota State wide receiver Christian Watson, an absolute freak of an athlete who may not have a similar size profile to that of Deebo Samuel, but he can be used in similar ways.

He was at North Dakota State, at least to a degree.

This pick would give the Packers another big-bodied receiver for Aaron Rodgers to get the ball to and someone they could groom as the WR1 of the future.
