NFL rumors: Best landing spots for top remaining QBs via trade, free agency

Where will Jameis Winston play in 2022?

2021 Team: New Orleans Saints

Jameis Winston, coming off a major injury, is a free agent that will benefit from teams who lost out on Watson and Mayfield.

It’s looking like that will come down to New Orleans and Carolina. Keep an eye on where Mayfield is traded and where Garoppolo is traded. Winston should be the third quarterback moved in this hierarchy of remaining passers.

Depending on where those two quarterbacks land, Winston may have to play on a one-year deal to show that he’s able to perform at a high level-post injury.

The Panthers would be a great landing spot. It’s an upgrade over Sam Darnold. The team can still draft a quarterback and let Winston play until the rookie is ready.

Prediction: Carolina Panthers

Where will Jimmy Garoppolo play in 2022?

2021 Team: San Francisco 49ers

Jimmy Garoppolo’s name seems to be one mentioned the least in NFL rumors, but that’s probably because he was buried below bigger names like Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson, and maybe Baker Mayfield.

The Houston Texans may feel comfortable pulling the trigger on bringing Jimmy G to H-Town. The Texans can be patient with the 30-year-old if isn’t ready to go Week 1 after spending the offseason recovering from shoulder surgery. The Texans have Davis Mills who was playing solid football as a rookie last season.

If Jimmy Garoppolo can be had for the right price, I can envision the Texans taking a gamble on the Eastern Illinois product to accelerate the rebuild.

The Texans have five picks in the first 80 selections of the 2022 NFL Draft, giving them plenty of options and opportunities to draft some key contributors and potential starters.
