NFL rumors: Best landing spots for top remaining QBs via trade, free agency
NFL Rumors: Where will Andy Dalton play in 2022?
2021 Team: Chicago Bears
Andy Dalton finally has an opportunity to get out of the crowded quarterback room in Chicago now that he’s a free agent.
The former TCU product is entering his 12th season in the NFL, firmly entrenched in a backup role. He was able to see action in 8 games last season with the Bears, starting in 6 of those appearances.
He was only able to record 8 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He completed 63% of his pass attempts. Teams needing an experienced backup who can run an offense for a game or two should be taking a look at Dalton.
The best fit would be to find his way to Buffalo and back up Josh Allen, a dual-threat QB that is not afraid to take hits. If Allen needs an extended rest, Dalton would be a solid fit to send out and shepherd the Bills’ offense if needed.
Prediction: Buffalo Bills
Where will Ryan Fitzpatrick play in 2022?
2021 Team: Washington Commanders
Is there still a little Fitzmagic left in the tank for the 39-year-old journeyman veteran? Ryan Fitzpatrick was last with Washington.
He’s only had one season since 2016 in which he’s appeared in 10 or more games in a season, but if his body can hold up he can fill in as a temporary starter or serve as a back-up for another season or two.
For a team that drafts a quarterback, they may be interested in Ryan Fitzpatrick. A rookie would be able to soak up a to of knowledge from the experienced veteran and can be the starter for the first few weeks of a season until said rookie is ready to go.
New Orleans is a great landing spot, especially since they appear to be losing every QB sweepstakes they’ve entered.
Time to wait until the draft, Saints fans. In the meantime, embrace the Fitzmagic.
Prediction: New Orleans Saints
