Cardinals and Cowboys land steals in 2022 NFL Mock Draft

23. Arizona Cardinals: Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State

At pick No. 23, the Arizona Cardinals decide to take Charles Cross from Mississippi State. They could use a pass-rusher and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them target one at this spot but Cross is a legit left tackle and it’s rare to see one with as much talent as he has slide to pick 23.

During the offseason, Arizona had some issues come up with starting quarterback Kyler Murray. One way to help mitigate those concerns going forward would be to prove they’re serious about building around him and a potential franchise left tackle does exactly that.

24. Dallas Cowboys: David Ojabo, EDGE, Michigan

One of the rising stars in this draft suffered a terrible injury as David Ojabo tore his Achilles during Michigan’s pro day. With the news that he could be out for six months or longer, some teams might be afraid to use a first-round pick on him, instead going with a player they think can be nearly as productive without missing any time.

As for the Dallas Cowboys, they can afford to take a bit of a risk on Ojabo. Currently, they have DeMarcus Lawrence, Dorance Armstrong, and Dante Fowler at defensive end. Lawrence is a Pro Bowler whereas Armstrong is coming off his best season as a pro and Fowler has shown flashes in the past.

That means the three of them could share the load until Ojabo is 100 percent, and once he’s up to speed, they could have a dangerous starting duo with him and Lawrence.
