NFL Power Rankings, NFC QB no. 5: Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

It’s been a drama-filled offseason for Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals.

The former Heisman winner and number one overall pick deleted all Cardinals images from his social media and apparently was trying to send a message about his contract situation.

The Cardinals went ahead and extended GM Steve Keim and head coach Kliff Kingsbury, but Murray awaits any sort of payment.

Last season, the Cardinals looked like they might be the best team in the NFL for a good chunk of the year. Unfortunately for Arizona, it ended in disappointment and with a division rival winning the Super Bowl.

Without Russell Wilson in the division, the Cardinals now have at least a slightly clearer path to the playoffs again in 2022 but what are they going to do about the drama with Murray?

At this point, I’m not sure he’s proven himself worthy of a Mahomes-like extension, or maybe not even a Josh Allen-like extension.

Then again, what price is too much for the Cardinals to have stability at a position that has plagued them for decades? They might just need to pay up for Murray, keep him happy, and put all their eggs in that basket.
