5. Titans (4): Bet you didn’t know AFC’s No. 1 playoff seed and Chiefs are the only teams with winning records each of the past six seasons. With GM Jon Robinson and coach and 2021 Coach of the Year Mike Vrabel now locked up long term, good bet Tennessee continues this trend … even if some might wonder how far Titans can get with QB Ryan Tannehill. Baker Mayfield surprise spot no. 2: Tennessee Titans

Could the Tennessee Titans be lurking in the Baker Mayfield trade derby?

I don’t think it’s overly far-fetched to think so.

The Titans have been lurking around possible upgrades over Ryan Tannehill it seems almost annually. Of course, the Titans were one of the rumored teams to be interested in Aaron Rodgers if he would have become available in a trade.

Who wouldn’t want Aaron Rodgers though?

We’re not talking about Aaron Rodgers, we’re talking about Baker Mayfield. There’s a massive difference.

As much as the Titans might like to eventually upgrade over Ryan Tannehill, they might need to make an investment like this in a player like Mayfield who could probably have a lot of success with the supporting cast the Titans could put around him right away.

The Titans have an elite running back in Derrick Henry. Their offensive weaponry just got a boost opposite and next to AJ Brown with the acquisitions of Robert Woods and Austin Hooper. The Titans also play tough defense for Mike Vrabel.

Again, if the Titans are serious about eventually upgrading over Ryan Tannehill, they don’t want to be caught at some point in a predicament like we’re seeing with Atlanta. Throwing a mid-round pick at the Browns right now for Mayfield and securing Mayfield might be the best option for the Titans for 2022 and beyond.
