The Kansas City Chiefs, in a shocking development, are actively looking to trade WR Tyreek Hill, who is expected to wind up in the AFC East.

In a stunning development, which is basically par for the course so far in this wild 2022 NFL offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs appear close to be trading star receiver Tyreek Hill.

The talks are far enough along that there are apparently two teams considered as favorites to land him already, both in the AFC East.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hill is likely to be traded to either the Miami Dolphins or the New York Jets.

Tyreek Hill likely headed to Jets or Dolphins in a trade

How would Hill fit in with either the Jets or Dolphins?

He certainly wouldn’t be catching passes from Patrick Mahomes at either of those locations, but those two teams have been doing pretty well so far in the 2022 offseason at upgrading their rosters overall.

Both the Jets and Dolphins have young quarterbacks they believe in, and head coaches hired within the last two years they believe will change or set the culture of their franchise.

For the Miami Dolphins, acquiring Hill would be the cherry on top of an otherwise unreal offseason so far. The Dolphins just landed left tackle Terron Armstead after already signing starting left guard Connor Williams, tagging Mike Gesicki, and adding other key pieces like Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert, and Cedrick Wilson.

Adding Hill to pair alongside Jaylen Waddle?

That’s a lot of speed.

The Jets would be obviously hoping to pair up Hill with a very solid rookie from their 2021 NFL Draft class, Elijah Moore. Moore was one of the bright spots on the Jets’ offense last season and Hill would certainly help take some pressure off of him.

The Jets also added tight ends CJ Uzomah and Tyler Conklin in free agency to upgrade on the offensive side of the ball. Zach Wilson would have a great offense creator if Hill were acquired and the Jets certainly have attractive NFL Draft capital to send to the Chiefs.

The Jets have picks 4, 10, 35, and 39 in this draft alone, so trading away a couple of picks for Tyreek Hill will be a worthwhile investment for them.

Hill has been one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL in the last handful of years. Especially since Patrick Mahomes became the starter in Kansas City, Hill has been borderline automatic offense for the Chiefs and is possibly the fastest player in the NFL certainly in terms of his play speed and game speed.

He would be a dynamic addition to either of these two teams even with the downgrade at QB.
