2022 NFL Mock Draft: Chiefs replace Tyreek Hill, Panthers land Pickett

11. Washington Commanders: Derek Stingley, CB, LSU
Bringing in Carson Wentz was an interesting move for the Washington Commanders. They needed an upgrade under center but Wentz wore out his welcome quickly in Indianapolis, and that was with a coach in Frank Reich who knew him well and vouched for him with ownership. Still, he seems to be the guy in D.C. for now and that means the Commanders can look at a different position at No. 11.
The direction they go is cornerback as the second in a row comes off the board in our 2022 NFL Mock Draft. This time, it’s Derek Stingley from LSU, who comes in with a really high ceiling.
Stingley appeared to be the top guy at the position not too long ago but his play wasn’t as strong in 2021 as it had been in other years whereas Sauce Gardner just played out of his mind and surpassed him. Even so, Washington lands a real player here.
12. Minnesota Vikings: Jermaine Johnson, EDGE, Florida State
When the Minnesota Vikings were winning — and made it to the NFC Championship Game — they did so thanks in large part to a powerful defense. Mike Zimmer might not have made a ton of friends but he did put together a very good unit.
As his time with the Vikings came to an end, that was no longer the case but they get to work on rebuilding it for Kevin O’Connell as the Vikings bring in Jermaine Johnson. A former Georgia Bulldog, Johnson transferred to FSU where he had a dominant 2021 campaign that catapults him into the top-15 of this 2022 NFL mock draft.
