The Dallas Cowboys could still add talent in free agency, but these three players should be avoided by their front office
Free agency has calmed down quite a bit after the first wave, which is usually when the Dallas Cowboys start to make some moves. They don’t typically get involved in the spending spree that kicks things off, but instead wait to find players who fit their budget.
At times, they even wait until after the draft to make their final moves, as they try and see which rookies could fill the voids they still have. Either way, there’s still a chance Dallas will go after some veterans before the regular season kicks off.
However, there are a few players they would be wise to steer clear of. Here are three such players that Dallas should avoid at all costs.
Dallas Cowboys free agent to avoid No. 3: T.Y. Hilton, WR
There was a time when T.Y. Hilton was one of the most explosive wideouts in the game. From 2013 through 2016 he had at least 1,000-yards and after putting up 966 in 2017, he was back in the quadruple digits, pulling in 1,270 yards in 2018.
Having said all that, Hilton has not been the same player in the past three seasons. His most productive season in that span was 2020 when he had 762 yards receiving — he also happened to miss only one game that year.
As for 2019, he had just 501 yards while missing six games and then put up 331 this past season while missing seven contests.
At 32-years of age, it’s more probable than not that he continues to miss time which is why Dallas would be smart to look elsewhere if they want to add someone other than James Washington this offseason.
