NFL Mock draft picks 29 and 30

29. Kansas City Chiefs: Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State

The Chiefs own both of these picks following the Tyreek Hill trade. The first of these picks has to be used on a receiver, and the best on the board just so happens to be Penn States Jahan Dotson. While he is built in a similar mold as Hill was, Dotson is far less of an athlete. He can help provide the Chiefs with a downhill threat.

While Dotson has the size to play in the slot, he actually excels at playing on the outside. Throw in JuJu Smith-Schuster in the slot and you have a respectable receiving group. Sure, losing Hill isn’t replaced by adding Dotson, but he is a good fit in this offense. His versatility and athleticism would be a huge boost for this team.

30. Kansas City Chiefs: Daxton Hill, DB, Michigan

Along with the loss of Hill, the Chiefs also lost Tyrann Mathieu. While replacing his versatility and talent will be nearly impossible, adding another secondary member makes sense with one of their first-round picks. One of the more versatile names in this draft class is Daxton Hill out of Michigan. The safety can play both free and strong safety as well as fill in at the nickel spot.

Hill would go a long way in improving this secondary. He would likely start off in the slot early in his career but would also fill in as a reserve safety. Hill has good coverage skills and can play the run well. Long term, his best fit is probably at safety, but in the short term, he should be a capable slot defender.
