NFL Mock draft picks 9 and 10

9. Seattle Seahawks: Travon Walker, EDGE, Georgia

Scouting Report. Georgia. Travon Walker. 9. player. Pick Analysis. EDGE. 814

The Seahawks miss out on the top crop of quarterbacks, and while they could settle, they take a different approach. Expecting the following class to be far stronger at quarterback, the Seahawks target a top need instead. While the defense for Seattle has fallen on some hard times, the team appears set to rebuild this unit. Adding freaky edge rusher Travon Walker would be a start.

While it seems as though Seattle has struggled to draft and develop edge rushers in recent years, taking a monster like Walker could help mend that. He is nothing short of a freak athlete with good pass-rushing tape on top of everything. There is very little to dislike about his game. Assuming he takes the next step as a pro, Walker should become a feared edge rusher for the Seahawks.

10. New York Jets: Derek Stingley, CB, LSU

CB. LSU. 10. player. 817. Pick Analysis. Derek Stingley. Scouting Report

The Jets already landed a top tackle, now they look to add to their secondary in this mock draft. Most expected them to sign one of the top names in free agency, but that never ended up happening. Now, they have their choice of top cornerback in the class, and while he carries some risk, the potential of Derrick Stingley ultimately lands him in the top ten.

Stingley was elite early in his LSU career before injuries and inconsistencies deterred his rise. While he still possesses most of the traits that made him such an appealing cornerback a few seasons ago, he needs to stay focused on the game. If he can harness some of his earlier success and develop at the pro level, he has lockdown cornerback written all over him.
