NFL Mock draft picks 11 and 12

11. Washington Commanders: Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati

The run-on cornerbacks come quick, as akin to tackle, three go off the board in consecutive picks. There seems to be some jostling for who the top cornerback should be in this class. While many see the upside with Stingley, Ahmad Gardner has all of the traits you want in an elite cornerback as well. He lands with a Washington team hoping to rebound.

Gardner would instantly come in and give the Commanders a talented duo at cornerback. Both William Jackson and Gardener would create a tough secondary to pass on. While a receiver could potentially go here as well, landing a top cornerback and banking on a day two receiver seems like the better move. Gardner would be a great fit for Washington.

12. Minnesota Vikings: Andrew Booth, CB, Clemson

The Vikings also look for a cornerback, and while he is the clear number three option, Andrew Booth is no bad prize. Booth does everything you need from a defensive back, as he can cover in man, zone, and can press at the line of scrimmage. That said, if he wants to be a top option as a pro, he will have to focus on one area and really work to develop there.

The Vikings are a mess at cornerback right now. Patrick Peterson leaving opens a hole that Booth could naturally fill in at. While many Minnesota fans may sour at the idea of going after a cornerback after Jeff Gladney and Mike Hughes bombed there, Booth is a needed addition. He should be able to help piece together this secondary.
