Chicago Bears HC Matt Eberflus on Fields being the future

The Chicago Bears made a major move in last year’s draft to go after and pick up a franchise quarterback in Fields. The team feels it finally found its man. Now that there is a new regime, the feeling still stands.

Fields had an up and down rookie season in 2021. He showed flashes of how great he could be but struggled behind a porous offensive line and receivers who could not get open. Additionally, he had a coach in Nagy who didn’t believe in him and didn’t tailor an offense for his skillset.

Eberflus believes in him and expects a jump in play from Fields in 2022.

"I said last time in public that the development of him for the second year should be a big jump. It should be. That’s what we’re looking for. We’re looking for better technique, better fundamentals, better decision-making, better timing, everything."

A big reason for the expectation is Getsy. Getsy got to work with one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play (wow that hurt to write). Now he could impart the knowledge learned from that to Fields.

Under Getsy, the Packers had one of the best offenses in the league. Yes, Rodgers had a big hand in it as well, but he did it under Getsy’s guidance. Now we get to see Getsy guide Fields.
