Baker Mayfield should demand a trade to one of these three NFL teams
Baker Mayfield option no. 1: Carolina Panthers
Are the Carolina Panthers in love with the 2022 NFL Draft class at the quarterback position?
Maybe.
The Panthers hold the sixth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and many have speculated for months now that Matt Rhule could be fixated on Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett, who once committed to play for Rhule at Temple before changing his mind.
That pairing would make plenty of sense on paper but is a rookie quarterback really the answer for a Panthers team with everyone’s jobs on the line?
That’s a tough question to answer.
Not that Baker Mayfield would unquestionably be a job-saving move, but he might be more worth the risk in 2022 than Sam Darnold was in 2021.
Depending on what the Cleveland Browns are asking for in a trade, Mayfield would make a lot of sense in Carolina simply because the Panthers may currently have the worst and least-enviable quarterback situation in the entire league.
I don’t think there’s any doubt that Mayfield would start over Sam Darnold and I believe he would do well with DJ Moore, Christian McCaffrey, and the rest of the skill players with the Panthers.
