Baker Mayfield trade spot no. 2: Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks may have made the hilariously bad decision to part with Russell Wilson in the 2022 offseason (though they made sure it was known that Wilson wanted to be traded), but that doesn’t mean they just have to live in the aftermath of that deal.

Though Seattle liked Drew Lock coming out of the 2019 NFL Draft, they may not love him as a long-term option going forward and there’s simply too much talent at the skill positions in Seattle to let go to waste.

Again, this is a team that could be in the market for one of the quarterbacks in the 2022 NFL Draft, but Mayfield could have some really nice upside in a spot where he would be throwing to the likes of DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and newly acquired tight end Noah Fant.

With those kinds of weapons in the passing game, the Seahawks offense has pretty outstanding potential even without Russell Wilson.

Is Mayfield the guy in the post-Russell Wilson era to maximize that potential?

Possibly.

On a one-year deal and in a competition with Drew Lock?

This is a proposition that would be well-worth the Seahawks’ time. Mayfield would be a good fit in Shane Waldron’s offense and I think he would certainly thrive with these types of weapons around him.
