Biggest NFL contracts at the cornerback position

Total Money: Jalen Ramsey, Los Angeles Rams (five years, $100 million)

Average annual value: Xavien Howard, Miami Dolphins ($25.3455M per year)

Over the last two seasons, Howard has a whopping 15 interceptions, and the Miami Dolphins rewarded him by giving him the highest annual value on a contract in league history at the cornerback position.

At over $25 million per season, Xavien Howard has set a new bar for his position contractually, even if it was only two years worth of new money on his deal.

He didn’t surpass Jalen Ramsey on total money or highest guarantee, but the Dolphins certainly honored his stretch of elite play with this deal.

Highest guarantee: Jalen Ramsey, Los Angeles Rams ($71.2 million)

Up until this weekend, it was another clean sweep for a player in the biggest NFL contract category, with Jalen Ramsey leading all three contract categories prior to the two years of new money the Dolphins gave to Xavien Howard.

At his best, Ramsey is a rare lockdown cornerback who can shut down his side of the field and destroy offensive gameplans as a result.

The three-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection just tied his career high with four interceptions this past seasons and he was probably thrilled he had that many opportunities to make plays on the ball.

His 16 passes broken up were one off of his career-best and the 71.1 QB rating into his coverage was the lowest number he’s had in the last six years.

Simply put, Ramsey is a superstar and is paid like one. The Los Angeles Rams invested a lot to acquire him in a trade, and he held up his end of the deal by helping them win another Super Bowl.
