Tyrann Mathieu is still a free agent as we enter April, which is rather unexpected. Here we look at the three best fits remaining for the All-Pro safety.

A nine-year NFL veteran, Tyrann Mathieu has asserted himself as one of the best safeties in the NFL. He’s spent the past three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and after being their defensive leader, he’s now on the open market and still looking for a new home in April.

It’s hard to know if Mathieu is asking for too much money or if teams are scared off by the fact that he will be turning 30 this season. Whatever the case, it’s a safe bet to assume he will find a home soon and will continue to be a playmaker in the NFL.

With that being said, here are the three landing spots that make the most sense for him.

Tyrann Mathieu landing spot No. 3: Denver Broncos

For the past three seasons, the Denver Broncos have seen how good Tyrann Mathieu can be. In 2020, he recorded three picks in their two contests against the Chiefs and seemed to always be racking up a ton of tackles.

Denver now enters the 2022 season looking to become a true Super Bowl contender. They went all-in as they traded a boatload of draft picks for Russell Wilson to make sure they had their franchise quarterback.

On offense, they’re stacked but their defense could use some more playmakers. They do have Justin Simmons at one safety spot and pairing him with Mathieu would give them one of the best starting duos in the entire league. It would also be good for him since he would get a shot at revenge against the Chiefs for not re-signing him while remaining on a contending team.
