Tyrann Mathieu landing spot No. 1: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In an unexpected move, Bruce Arians decided to retire and stepped away from his role as head coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his place will be Todd Bowles, who is one of the more well-respected coaches in the league.

Bowles has done a fantastic job turning the Tampa Bay defense around and they were a huge part of the team’s win over Tyrann Mathieu’s Chiefs in Super Bowl XXXVII. With him as head coach, the Bucs will still be in good hands as he will keep the defense on task while Tom Brady and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich will keep the offense humming.

With the NFC not featuring too many elite teams, the Buccaneers should still be contenders in 2022 and that’s why it feels like a good place for Mathieu to land. Of course, salary will have to be a concern as the Bucs have just around $7 million in cap space according to Over The Cap, but they could still find a way to make this work, especially if his deal is one that extends beyond 2022.

Next. Baker Mayfield should demand a trade to one of these three NFL teams. dark

Right now, the Bucs have Logan Ryan slated to start opposite Antoine Winfield. While that’s not a terrible duo, moving to Mathieu next to Winfield would be a significant upgrade, and Bowles would surely be able to put the veteran in a position to succeed.
