Way too early bold predictions for the 2022 NFL season

2. Carson Wentz and the Commanders win the NFC East

This one might be very random, but I have a strong feeling about this.

So, the NFC East wasn’t exactly bad in 2021.  The division has been painfully mediocre for years, but they actually produced two playoff teams in 2021.

The Cowboys had one of the best offenses in the NFL, and the Eagles showed promise as an up-and-coming club.

However, I think there’s a new champion in this division for 2021. Commander Carson and the rest of the Commanders are going to win the NFC East.

So, Wentz played reasonably well in 2021 with the Colts.  He threw 27 touchdowns against just seven interceptions, as he reunited with Frank Reich for a season.

He kind of fell apart the last two games, which is seemingly why the Colts traded him, but I think he’s in a really solid spot this season. The Commanders’ roster, relative to the NFC East and NFC as a whole is really strong.

They have an excellent offensive line, which is perhaps a bit underrated.  They also sport a solid grouping of receivers, led by Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel, and have a very good running back in Antonio Gibson.

Their defense also features an incredibly strong defensive line and great talent in the secondary.

Let’s not forget that back in 2020, the Commanders had the 4th best scoring defense, and with the Colts in 2021, Carson Wentz quarterbacked them to the 9th ranked scoring offense.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the Commanders are set to have the easiest schedule in the NFL this season.

We can also add that the Cowboys lost a good bit on both sides of the ball.  La’El Collins, Cedrick Wilson, Amari Cooper, Connor Williams, and Randy Gregory all signed elsewhere in free agency.

With the Cowboys set to take a step back, the Eagles still building their roster, and the Giants entering a new era, the Commanders are in a perfect position to win the NFC East this season.
