Dallas Cowboys worst move in 2022 NFL Free Agency

Amari Cooper trade

Depending on which Cowboys fan you ask, you might get a couple of different answers regarding the “worst” move the Cowboys made in 2022 NFL Free Agency so far.

For some, it was probably the contract snafu with pass rusher Randy Gregory. The Cowboys had actually announced Gregory’s deal on their Twitter account before he changed course and signed with the Denver Broncos to the exact same deal.

Not long after that debacle, the Cowboys traded wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns for next-to-nothing.

Cooper has been an integral part of the Cowboys’ offense in recent years, and even though his 2022 cap number was prohibitive, it’s a bummer the Cowboys weren’t able to figure out a way to adjust Cooper’s contract or get better compensation.

Things might have been different if the Cowboys had figured out a way to strike a long-term deal with tight end Dalton Schultz, or maybe they wouldn’t have been.

At least Dallas got something for Cooper, but this is a tough pill to swallow.
