New York Giants worst move in 2022 NFL Free Agency

Not re-signing Jabrill Peppers

At this point, it’s been a fairly uneventful offseason for the New York Giants. Aside from hiring general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll away from the Buffalo Bills, the team hasn’t done much.

They did bring in Mark Glowinski, a veteran option on the offensive line who will hopefully upgrade one of the weakest units on the team.

They also brought in Tyrod Taylor, and it will be fascinating to see if he is a factor in the starting quarterback conversation as Daniel Jones will now have to prove himself to a new coaching staff and front office.

With so little cap space, the Giants haven’t done much or haven’t been able to do much. With that said, former trade acquisition Jabrill Peppers was allowed to walk in free agency and wound up signing with the New England Patriots on a one-year, $2 million contract.

It would have been nice to see the Giants bring him back for that low price even though he’s coming back from a torn ACL last season.

As I stated before, some of these moves are nit-pick types of critiques, but Peppers had become a pretty valuable member of the Giants defense as of 2020 when he racked up 11 pass deflections, eight tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks to go along with a career-best 91 total tackles.
