Philadelphia Eagles worst move in 2022 NFL Free Agency

Striking out on WR help

Even with three first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, I figured the Philadelphia Eagles would be much more active on the free agent market than they were.

They did go out and get some help in the pass rush department by signing former Temple star and first-round pick Haason Reddick to a reasonable three-year deal.

They also managed to re-do Fletcher Cox’s contract and bring back Derek Barnett.

Other than that, the Eagles have simply made minor moves that aren’t really making massive headlines. At the wide receiver position, the only upgrade they’ve made thus far is signing Zach Pascal, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts.

With some of the players available like Allen Robinson, Christian Kirk, and DJ Chark, I thought the Eagles might go after someone to help take the pressure off of DeVonta Smith as well as free them up to be flexible with those first-round draft picks.

The Eagles also stayed out of the trade market for players like Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill, at least as far as we know.

Even absent a huge move at wide receiver, I think the Eagles would have been wise to go after someone like DJ Chark on a one-year deal like the Detroit Lions did.

Now, Philadelphia will almost have to use one of its first-round picks on the wide receiver position and upgrade that spot with the failed development, at least to this point, of Jalen Reagor.
