Houston Texans worst move in 2022 NFL Free Agency

Kyle Allen as the contingency for Davis Mills

It’s hard to pick on the Houston Texans in 2022 even though they were an easy target in 2021.

At this time last year, the Texans looked like the most pathetic organization in football. Now, you can kind of see a lot of silver linings with what Nick Caserio is doing.

He re-signed a number of the budget free agents he picked up in 2021, proving that those one-year dart throw types of investments are well worth it.

He’s been at it again in 2022, signing a boatload of free agents to budget-friendly one-year deals while also adding a king’s ransom of draft capital in the Deshaun Watson trade.

Caserio has the third pick and the 13th pick in this year’s draft to work with now in addition to multiple first-round picks in the coming seasons. The team has rid itself of the Deshaun Watson distraction.

The only complaint I have about Houston’s offseason so far is that their main contingency for Davis Mills (so far) is Kyle Allen, and even that’s not all that bad.

The Texans have had a good offseason, but I wouldn’t hate to see them take a shot on someone like Carson Strong, Sam Howell, Desmond Ridder, or someone like that in the second round of this year’s draft to compete with Mills, who appears to have intriguing potential.
