Cincinnati Bengals’ worst move in 2022 NFL Free Agency

Choosing Ted Karras over James Daniels for the price

This is certainly one of those ‘nit-picking’ situations I mentioned at the top of the post.

As a whole, the Cincinnati Bengals have had a pretty outstanding offseason in 2022.

They have brought back the majority of their defense that helped get them to the Super Bowl last season. They replaced CJ Uzomah with Hayden Hurst, so it’s hard to say they really downgraded there.

The primary objective for the Bengals in the 2022 offseason was to upgrade their offensive line, and they have done just that. They went out right away and signed Alex Cappa away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, landing one of the premier guards in the game.

At the right tackle position, the Cowboys’ trash was the Bengals’ treasure and La’El Collins joined the AFC Champions to fill a massive need.

At the center position, the Bengals added former Patriot Ted Karras, who was not a bad pickup by any means.

I think the Bengals could have gotten a higher-upside player in James Daniels for a similar price, but Daniels wound up signing with the Bengals’ division rival Pittsburgh Steelers.

Daniels played his college ball at Iowa and would have been a perfect fit in Brian Callahan/Zac Taylor’s offense with the Bengals, but the Bengals opted for the more grizzled veteran Karras.

Again, this is a nit-pick, but I would have preferred Daniels for the Bengals over Karras.
