Pittsburgh Steelers worst move in 2022 NFL Free Agency

Settling on Mitch Trubisky and the 2022 NFL Draft

It’s hard to blame the Pittsburgh Steelers for the route they chose in the 2022 offseason and plenty of people around the league felt like Mitchell Trubisky was a strong candidate to rebound in a new NFL city.

After spending a year with Brian Daboll, Ken Dorsey, and Josh Allen with the Buffalo Bills, people in the NFL seem to think that Trubisky is ready for another chance to be an NFL starter and there are reasons to believe they are right.

Trubisky had horrendous coaching in Chicago and a bad supporting cast offensively, and it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he could excel and even thrive in an environment like the one in Pittsburgh.

Still, what were Mike Tomlin and the Steelers doing behind the scenes to recruit Russell Wilson? Is a one-year shot on Mitchell Trubisky better than a one-year shot on someone like Matt Ryan? Should the Steelers have gone after Deshaun Watson, who apparently wanted to play for Brian Flores in Miami?

Flores is not the head coach in Pittsburgh, but he’s on the staff, and that move could have made some sense.

It seems like the Steelers settled quickly for Trubisky and are planning something in the 2022 NFL Draft, which is a “beauty in the eye of the beholder” type of quarterback class.

The Steelers are rumored to love Malik Willis but choosing Trubisky and Willis or some other draft prospect over the potential of someone like Wilson, Watson, or even Matt Ryan?

I’m not sure they made the right call.
