New England Patriots worst move in 2022 NFL Free Agency

Not figuring out a way to retain JC Jackson

Ultimately, the 2022 offseason has been a complete dud for the New England Patriots.

Losing Josh McDaniels is massive for the offense, and the Patriots literally decided not to replace him.

The spending spree we saw from New England in 2021 likely prevented them from doing anything major in 2022 but for the second consecutive offseason, the Patriots let go of a player they should have at least kept via the franchise tag if not on a long-term deal.

How did the Patriots just let JC Jackson walk out the door?

Jackson has 17 interceptions over the last two seasons. His elite ball production has been proven to be consistent over time and the Patriots have seemingly never done anything substantial to try and keep Jackson around.

It’s something I just simply do not understand.

The Patriots’ defense has been very good in recent years and likely will continue to be quite good, but it’s hard to replace the kind of ball production Jackson has brought to the table.
