Denver Broncos top 2022 NFL Draft options at pick 64

3. A high-RAS linebacker prospect

With Baron Browning moving to the EDGE, the Denver Broncos should officially be in the market for some more starting linebacker help.

I really like Jonas Griffith, who put some really good stuff on tape late last season when he was forced into action for the Broncos, but does the team feel confident in him?

Perhaps the move from Baron Browning tells us all we need to know.

Still, the Broncos brought in Wyoming linebacker Chad Muma for a visit, and Muma is representative of exactly the type of three-down linebacker prospect with speed and range the Broncos could consider with Browning’s position switch.

The Broncos did sign former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Alex Singleton, but Singleton was signed to a deal that seems to indicate he’s more of a special teams option than anything else.

Wisconsin’s Leo Chenal dominated the Scouting Combine, and other prospects who graded out with elite athletic scores that could be available with the Broncos’ top pick include Penn State’s Brandon Smith and Montana State’s Troy Andersen, one of the most unique prospects in this class.

Andersen is one of the most versatile players in this class as a former All-Conference selection at quarterback with a 1,000-yard rushing season and a Conference Defensive Player of the Year award all on his list of accomplishments.

Ultimately, would the linebacker position be the best way for the Broncos to go with their top pick? They should probably keep their focus on the defensive backfield with how much time they intend to spend in the nickel or dime alignment, but there’s no question that the linebacker position needs to be addressed.
