Green Bay Packers 2022 mock draft: 2nd round picks
2a. Trey McBride, TE, Colorado State
After adding multiple receivers with their first two picks, the Green Bay Packers add yet another pass-catching option here with their first of two second-round picks.
As of right now, mock draft machines still have Colorado State tight end Trey McBride lasting well into the middle or late second round, often into the third round.
I can’t, for the life of me, understand it.
Other than not having ideal size, there’s really nothing McBride lacks as a tight end prospect, and I think he’s absolutely perfect for Matt LaFleur’s offense as both a blocker and receiver.
2b. DeMarvin Leal, DL, Texas A&M
The Packers turn around after getting a great value in Trey McBride and get another great value near the end of round two in DeMarvin Leal, a defensive lineman who has been projected to go in the first round for most of the last year.
With the Packers, he could provide some additional depth on the defensive front and give some balance to this mock draft scenario, which obviously has an intentional and heavy focus on the offensive side.
At this point, Leal is not quite the sum of his parts but on a great and ascending defensive unit like the one in Green Bay, he could thrive.
