The Seattle Seahawks have moved on from Russell Wilson and now look to the 2022 NFL Draft. What would a dream mock draft scenario look like?

The Seattle Seahawks are officially in the post-Russell Wilson era. For the time being, Drew Lock is on the roster and came over in the blockbuster trade with the Denver Broncos. He could be the team’s presumptive starter going into the 2022 season, but it’s fair to assume the Seahawks don’t have their QB of the future on the roster as things are right now.

After the Wilson trade, Seattle has a replenished arsenal of NFL Draft capital for the next couple of years as well as a few pieces on the roster in defensive lineman Shelby Harris, tight end Noah Fant, and Lock that can contribute right away.

At this point, though, what would an ideal 2022 NFL Draft look like for John Schneider and Pete Carroll? It’s difficult to know exactly what the team is prioritizing in 2022 as far as going after a QB early or maybe just taking a shot at a guy, but if I were running the Seahawks, I have an idea of what a “dream” draft scenario might look like.

The “dream” Seattle Seahawks 2022 NFL Draft class

1st round, 9th pick: Jermaine Johnson, EDGE, Florida State

It’s been quite some time that the Seattle Seahawks have been trying to find some good help off the edge.

They went out and got Jadevon Clowney a couple of years ago, they’ve drafted a number of players including recent high picks like Darrell Taylor (2020), LJ Collier (2019), and Rasheem Green (2018).

The Seahawks have been searching for consistent production off the edge and I think they could get that from Jermaine Johnson, a breakout player in the 2021 season for Florida State.

Johnson has an elite combination of size, speed, and explosiveness, and he finally put that all together on the field this past season at Florida State. The former Georgia transfer was shockingly lost in the shuffle even among the titans that played on that Bulldogs defense the last few years.

At pick number nine overall, Johnson would be an outstanding pickup as the new cornerstone of that Seahawks defense.
