DK Metcalf trade offer no. 1: New York Jets package

New York Jets receive:

  • WR DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks receive:

  • 10th overall pick
  • 2023 2nd-round pick

This would be a hyper-aggressive trade from the New York Jets, but perhaps a necessary one.

The question for the New York Jets is, how much do you think having DK Metcalf around can help the development of Zach Wilson? Is it worth a top-10 pick in a relatively weak draft at the top end plus another future pick that could be in the top 50?

From the Jets’ perspective, this would also include a massive contract extension, which they were apparently willing to give to Tyreek Hill.

Metcalf isn’t going to cost $30 million annually, so you could even look at this as a slight discount.

If the Jets are considering a top-tier receiver prospect with that 10th pick (Drake London is heavily rumored to be a Jets target), then why would you not be willing to sacrifice a future 2nd-round pick to get Metcalf?

Why should the Seahawks accept this trade?

Well, it would give them back-to-back picks in the top 10 of this year’s draft where they could land two blue-chip starters at EDGE, cornerback, offensive tackle, or maybe they would even use one of those picks on London.

It would also give the Seahawks one more second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, where they already have multiple selections thanks to the Russell Wilson trade.
