Christian McCaffrey trade option no. 1: Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos receive:

  • RB Christian McCaffrey

Carolina Panthers receive:

  • 64th overall pick
  • 115th overall pick

For the Carolina Panthers, this juice might be worth the squeeze. Even after converting over $7 million to a signing bonus, that could be worth it to acquire a second-round pick.

The rumors going into the 2022 offseason were that the Panthers wanted a first-round pick and another piece for McCaffrey, but was that ever a realistic expectation?

I’m not so sure.

At this rate, with a superstar player like Davante Adams going for a first-and-second-round pick, would McCaffrey really go for a similar price even with a different situation?

I don’t see that happening.

The Denver Broncos have apparently decided, at this point, not to re-sign veteran Melvin Gordon. Trading for McCaffrey would restore their dynamic 1-2 punch at the running back position with Javonte Williams.

It would also bring McCaffrey back to the Mile High City where he grew up with his father, Ed, a Broncos Country legend for his contributions to the team’s Super Bowl teams in the late 90s.

McCaffrey has been a beloved player from afar for many Broncos fans and the team would benefit greatly from having a healthy version of him in their new offense led by Russell Wilson.
