Christian McCaffrey trade option no. 3: Houston Texans

Houston Texans receive:

  • RB Christian McCaffrey

Carolina Panthers receive:

  • 68th overall pick
  • 107th overall pick
  • 2023 4th-round pick

After the massive Deshaun Watson trade, the Houston Texans have a lot of NFL Draft capital to play with, not only this year but in years to come.

They might not be able to go out in free agency and acquire a player like McCaffrey, but trading for him?

That’s doable.

Like I said before, the Panthers need to find a way to get as many darts to throw between picks 6 and 137 as they can, and although the other options on this list included second-round picks, the Houston Texans offer up a very high third-round pick as well as a very high fourth-round pick.

In addition to the salary cap savings, that is the kind of deal the Carolina Panthers may not be able to turn down for McCaffrey at this point.

For Houston, you would be getting a big-time playmaker to give an option to Davis Mills and really help his development.

Mills, in a similar situation as Zach Wilson, is really getting a great shot to prove himself in 2022 unless the Texans surprisingly take a QB early in the 2022 NFL Draft.

As Mills continues to grow, McCaffrey could be a key piece for the Houston offense that could help keep drives alive and give Mills some room for error.

After re-signing Brandin Cooks, I would like an aggressive move like this from GM Nick Caserio.
