Jimmy Garoppolo trade proposal No. 2

Pittsburgh Steelers get:

Jimmy Garoppolo, QB

San Francisco 49ers get:

  • 52nd Overall Pick
  • 138th Overall Pick

Much like the aforementioned New York Giants, the Pittsburgh Steelers have their starter — or at least they say they do. Right now, the Steelers are expected to go with Mitchell Trubisky although he could be challenged by Mason Rudolph — and that in itself is why there’s a chance the Steelers could be looking for an upgrade.

And Jimmy Garoppolo would be an upgrade over either of those players. In fact, he seems to be a great fit in this offense that’s all about timing and quick throws — and getting the running backs involved. Garoppolo would have no problem handing the ball off to Najee Harris and would continue to feed it to him in the passing game as well.

At receiver, they have some players who can get deep but for the past couple of seasons, they have played much closer to the line of scrimmage since Ben Roethlisberger didn’t have the same cannon he once possessed. Garoppolo can excel in such an offense — and adds another dimension since his arm is stronger than Big Ben’s was during his final season.

Pittsburgh is entering a weird season with Roethlisberger retiring and they shouldn’t simply settle for a battle of Trubisky vs. Rudolph.
