Miami Dolphins FA target no 2: CB Kyle Fuller (Denver Broncos)

The franchise just signed three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Xavien Howard to a new contract extension. In six NFL seasons, he’s already totaled 30 takeaways – including 27 interceptions.

He finished with five of the club’s 14 picks in 2021, returning one of those thefts for a score, and also took back a fumble for a touchdown.

But the Dolphins could use an additional veteran presence in the defensive backfield. Kyle Fuller is apparently not in the future plans for the Denver Broncos, where he spent 2021 after seven campaigns with the Chicago Bears.

While the two-time Pro Bowler comes off a season in which he did not pick off a pass for the first time in his career, he would join a team with a much-more formidable pass rush.

Coordinator Josh Boyer’s defensive unit could use a bigger body up the middle. The Dolphins have been mediocre when it comes to stopping the run in recent seasons. Although there have been some improvements, the club finished 16th in the NFL in rushing defense in 2020.

And this past season, Miami allowed just the 14th fewest yards per game on the ground.

Last offseason, interior presence Davon Godchaux signed with the rival New England Patriots. Veteran defensive tackle Brandon Williams remains available.

He spent the past nine seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. A season ago, he made 13 starts and John Harbaugh’s club allowed the fewest yards per game on the ground.
