The Dallas Cowboys have a good roster but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bolster a few positions ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft via the trade market

In recent years, the Dallas Cowboys have done a good job drafting — at least, when they’re not focused on one position. Throwing out the 2017 NFL Draft where they zeroed in on a defensive end and walked away with Taco Charlton, they’ve typically had good success with early picks.

One major reason for this is the fact that they do a good job filling holes on the roster ahead of the draft. This offseason, they haven’t made as many moves as they did in 2021 which could be a bad sign for them heading into the end of April.

That’s why it might be a good idea for the front office to do a little work ahead of the draft to get back to their ‘best player available’ approach. With that being said, here are three players who could really help keep them on task in the war room.

Dallas Cowboys trade target No. 3: A.J. Epenesa, EDGE, Buffalo Bills

A.J. Epenesa was a highly-regard defensive end prospect from Iowa who ended up being taken 54th overall by the Buffalo Bills in the 2020 NFL Draft. Buffalo was in need of some youth on the line but after two seasons, it seems as though they don’t believe he’s their guy.

The Bills ended up taking Greg Rousseau in the first round last season followed by Carlos Basham in the second. On top of that, they landed Von Miller in free agency.

With all that going on, Epenesa might struggle to see the field at all in Western New York. As for Dallas, he could end up finding a better shot at making good on his potential — and it might not cost much at all to convince the Bills to move on.

Dallas has a need outside of DeMarcus Lawrence and while Epenesa might not be a long-term answer, he could help them feel better about the spot, which could avoid the drafting of Taco 2.0.
