Saquon Barkley trade no. 3: Baltimore Ravens

New York Giants receive:

  • 100th overall pick
  • 119th overall pick

Baltimore Ravens receive:

  • RB Saquon Barkley

It was recently reported that the Baltimore Ravens had veteran running back Melvin Gordon in for a free agent visit.

Could they be a darkhorse team interested in potentially trading for Saquon Barkley?

It would seem a bit out of character for Eric DeCosta and the Ravens to make a trade like this, but they have two picks in the third round of this year’s draft as well as three picks in round four.

Not that the Ravens would fail to make good use of those selections, but they could certainly get an impact player at running back by using a couple of them.

In this particular scenario, Baltimore adds another star player from the 2018 NFL Draft class to pair with their own MVP from that class, Lamar Jackson.

They also keep the three picks they have in the first three rounds as well as the Giants’ 110th overall pick and the Cardinals’ 128th overall pick.

For the Giants, this would give them six selections in the top 100 and seven in the top 120 overall, allowing them to really build the foundation of this roster the way the new regime wants to do so.

They could also parlay some of these picks into future capital to potentially acquire a quarterback at some point down the line. Ultimately, this deal may look like bad value for the Giants for a player like Barkley but it could wind up being extremely impactful to this roster overall.
