2022 NFL Draft: 3 teams who should trade into the first round
Will the Chicago Bears trade into the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft?
The Chicago Bears used quite a bit of draft capital to be able to move up in the 2021 NFL Draft to select QB Justin Fields from Ohio State.
Could they make a move again this year to fill a hole at wide receiver? Fields is going to need weapons in order to be successful and right now this roster doesn’t have any clear-cut players that fit that role.
The team has gotten great value out of 2020 fifth-round pick Darnell Mooney, finishing in the top-20 in receptions and yards last season.
RB David Montgomery can catch some passes, but his strength is definitely in his run game.
This team lacks a clear-cut stud wide receiver. Would it make sense to strike a deal with the Chiefs to grab one of their first-round picks (No. 29 or No. 30) to pick up someone like Alabama’s Jameson Williams or Arkansas’ Treylon Burks?
If one of these wide receivers slips to the late first round, look for Chicago to roll the dice to secure a WR1 that will have an impact from day one.
I could also envision the team moving up to go after a big-name offensive tackle if one becomes available that they’re enamored with. Fields won’t be able to make plays if he doesn’t have great protection up front.
