It’s another year and there’s another quarterback change in Indianapolis. But Frank Reich’s Colts could fill some holes in free agency.

It’s been a fascinating offseason for a franchise that last season dropped its final two games and failed to make the playoffs. And once again the Indianapolis Colts will open a season with a different starting quarterback.

The club dealt for former Philadelphia Eagles’ signal-caller Carson Wentz last offseason. But that failed to work out, he was dealt to the Washington Commanders this year and general manager Chris Ballard orchestrated a deal to acquire veteran Matt Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons.

As usual, this franchise has not been overly busy when it comes to free agency. Along with the Carson deal, the Indianapolis Colts did acquire edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for cornerback Rock Ya-Sin.

Still, the team has plenty of salary cap room (via Spotrac) and does own seven picks in this year’s draft. But the club’s first selection doesn’t come until the second round (No. 42 overall).

So could Ballard and company add a few more veterans over the next few weeks? Here are five suggestions.

5. WR Julio Jones (Released by Tennessee Titans)

It would appear to be a natural fit considering the Indianapolis Colts’ new starting quarterback and this seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro played together for 10 years from 2011-2020 in Atlanta.

Wide receiver Julio Jones, who was dealt to the Titans in 2021 and was released after one season, has dealt with his share of injuries the past two years – missing a combined 14 contests.

He missed seven regular-season games in 2021 with Tennessee but returned for the playoffs. Are the Colts playing a waiting game with Ryan’s former teammate?
