2. DT Eddie Goldman (Released by Chicago Bears)

In 2020, only the eventual Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers allowed fewer yards per game on the ground (90.5 average) than Frank Reich’s playoff-bound team. But the Indianapolis Colts’ defense vs. the run slipped a bit this past season, giving up 109.1 yards per contest rushing – 10th in the NFL.

Defensive tackle Eddie Goldman was let go by the Chicago Bears this offseason. The 2015 second-round pick from Florida State played in 14 games and made 10 starts this past year.

This followed a 2020 campaign in which the 28-year-old pro opted due to COVID-19 concerns. He could add depth to a defensive front that hopes to be a bit more dominant this season.

1. G Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (New York Jets)

It wasn’t long ago that the Indianapolis Colts’ offensive line was not only one of the best in the league but a model of continuity. But a lot has changed in recent years.

Following the 2020 season, veteran left tackle Anthony Costanzo announced his retirement after 10 NFL campaigns. This past year, perennial Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson missed time for the first time in his brief career.

This offseason, right guard Mark Glowinski signed with the New York Giants and key reserve Chris Reed (6 starts in 2021) joined the Minnesota Vikings via free agency.

Former Chiefs guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif was dealt to the New York Jets in 2021 and now sits on the free-agent market. He would be a solid addition to a unit that could still be very formidable.
